Romans 1:18-32
18 For the
wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For
what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature,
have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the
things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they
knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became
futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming
to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God
for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
24
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the
dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the
truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the
Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
26 For this
reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged
natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men
likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for
one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves
the due penalty for their error.
28 And
since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased
mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of
unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder,
strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God,
insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish,
faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God's righteous decree that
those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give
approval to those who practice them.
THERE IS
STILL HOPE FOR THE HOMOSEXUAL
Over the
past several years, we have all been bombarded with the concept that
homosexuality is correctly referred to as “being gay”. Yet, truthfully, the
word gay dates all the way back to the fourteenth century when the word was
given the definition of, “being merry”, “being happy”, “being lively”, and even
“being bright”. In other words the word had a very good meaning and I am
certain that the word was never intended to characterize a perverted lifestyle
that brings reproach on God our Creator, on the written Word of God, the
sacredness of marriage and the family, and upon the dignity of human sexuality.
We must remember that God gave the gift of sex to Adam and Eve in the Garden of
Eden, and it was primarily given for the procreation of the human race and the
ultimate mysterious satisfaction between a man and his wife. And, this gift of
sex was given within the environment where Adam and Eve had a personal
relationship with God Himself. Therefore, to twist and pervert this God given
gift for a husband and wife by any means of sexual perversion is to demonstrate
irreverent defiance for God as our Creator, and for His Divine and special plan
for a husband and wife. And, as we are going to discuss in this article,
homosexuality leads to a catastrophic judgment by God upon those who completely
disregard His plan and Word about sexuality. And, it is very sad that most
people who disregard Godʼs plan in any area of life, usually ultimately
bring about self-destruction in one form or another.
Now, I want
us to take a serious look at what Paul the Apostle wrote to the Church at Rome
and discover that although abusing oneself in sexual misbehavior may provide a
certain amount of satisfaction for a short
period of time, we must remember that
ultimately there will be nothing
“gay” or happy about homosexuality. It will ultimately only
produce despair and devastation. It is my prayer that this article may be used
by God to open the hearts and minds of those engaged in homosexuality, and
also, those who may be presently being influenced by so called friends to go in
that direction. And, the most tragic thing is that if a person doesnʼt get
saved and forgiven of a lifestyle of twisted perversion, that person will
ultimately die without Jesus and spend eternity in hell separated from God and His love for ever. I
have often been asked the question, “Can a homosexual ever be saved?” The
answer is yes, if that person who is engaged in homosexual behavior will
recognize that what he or she is doing is sin, and then repent of this behavior
as sin and by faith trust Christ himself or herself. But, if the person engaged
in homosexuality continues in this
lifestyle until he or she
no longer believes that
their behavior is sin, then there
will never be repentance, and
without repentance, all shall perish. Now, letʼs try
our best to take an objective look at the truth God has given us through the
great Paul the Apostle and see what God is trying to show us about
homosexuality.
I. NOTICE
FIRST THAT HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT GAY BECAUSE IT ORIGINATES WITH A REJECTED
INTELLIGENCE. vs. 18-20
In Romans
1:1-17, Paul the apostle greets the Christians in Rome and he shares with them
the importance of all men receiving the Gospel message of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Then, from verse 18-32, in this chapter, Paul goes on to describe the
ultimate results for those individuals who reject the Gospel message. The end
results are not very pretty, but yet because of the hardness of some menʼs
hearts, they still insist on paying no attention to God or the truth from His Word, and they
end up with destroyed lives and ultimately destroyed souls.
In verses
18-20, I want us to take a look at why homosexuality does not produce a gay
lifestyle and bring happiness to individuals who insist on this kind of perverted
behavior. Homosexuality originated with a rejected intelligence which is
reality is complete foolishness. Letʼs look at these
three verses.
A. This
rejected intelligence includes the punishment of God. v. 18
“For the
wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth”.
In verse
18, Paul tell us that the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against those
who choose to live in ungodliness and reject the truth that God demands
righteousness. In other words, God is speaking to us through Paul and saying
that if one insists on rejecting the truth of God about living a righteous
life, that person is truthfully rejecting and trying to deny the fact that God
will ultimately punish those who live in rebellion against Him. Of course, this
is why so many people easily believe in the far-fetched idea and theory of
evolution. If people donʼt want to answer to a righteous and holy God,
then they must make themselves believe that there is no God, and that they donʼt have
to ultimately stand before Him to give an account. So, the primary reason that
those who twist and pervert the plan of God for righteous behavior is that they
wonʼt allow themselves to believe that God will one day punish them. But, let me say that just
because someone doesnʼt believe in God, or even in God one day
holding them accountable for their behavior, doesnʼt
change the fact that a day of reckoning will come and every person will give an
account unto God. So
today, if you are trying to rationalize away your ultimate day of judgment, I
plead with you to not make this foolish mistake because of your desire to live
in ungodliness. God is truly the final judge, and you will one day believe
that.
B. This
rejected intelligence includes the provision of God. v. 19
“For what
can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them”.
If any
person decides the he or she wants to live a life of debauchery and perversion,
he or she will never be able to accurately say that they never knew better.
Why? Because in this verse nineteen, the scripture says that God manifests His
truth to every person and that person then must choose what to do with the
truth. If that person rejects the truth because he or she wants to live an
ungodly lifestyle, he or she has simply rejected the truth and light which God
has provided. Therefore, no one will ever be able to say that they didnʼt know
better because God will do everything necessary to reveal the truth of His Word
to them. So, people who continue in the homosexual lifestyle have said no to
the revealed truth of God. And, because they have known the truth and yet, rejected it, their
judgment will be greater. It is well for us to remember that we are not going
to be judged for the amount of sin we commit, but we are going to be judged by
the amount of light or truth we reject.
C. This
rejected intelligence includes the power of God. v. 20
“For his
invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been
clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that
have been made. So they are without excuse”.
Have you
ever heard a homosexual say, “Well, this is the way God made me, and therefore,
I canʼt help myself”? Thus, the homosexual
rationalizes that since God made him or her this way, they should not even
attempt to change. Beloved friend, this rationale is completely erroneous because in this verse, we
are told that the God of all creation has revealed Himself in mighty power to
every human being, and thus, every person is provided the power of a righteous
God to overcome evil in his or her life. In fact, this verse tells us that God
has provided Himself as the Father, also as the Son, and also the Holy Spirit
of God to help every person overcome evil in his or her life. Therefore, there
are no people that are excused or exempted from being guilty when they engage
in a lifestyle that is blatantly contrary to the plan and desire of a righteous
God.
I would
like to stop here and say that God never has created or made a homosexual any
more than He has made or created an adulterer or adulteress. God has made man to
live righteously, but when a person chooses to disregard this plan of righteous
living, then the ultimate result is a debauched life and eventually the
judgment of God.
I would
like, however to say, that some people are possibly born with a predisposition
to becoming homosexuals, but they must make the choice to go in that direction.
The same is true for one born with a predisposition to becoming a drunkard, but
that person must choose to drink or he or she will never become an alcoholic.
So, we
conclude this point by saying that if one gives in to the desire toward a
homosexual lifestyle, it is only his or her fault and not Godʼs. Why?
Because God has promised to give His power, His grace, and His mercy to
overcome these evil propensities.
II. HOMOSEXUALITY
IS NOT GAY BECAUSE IT OPERATES WITH REBELLIOUS INSOLENCE. vs.
21-23
“For
although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him,
but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were
darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of
the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and
creeping things”.
In 1 Samuel
15:23 the Bible says, “For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and
presumption is as iniquity and idolatry”. This verse tells us that God hates
rebellion, and He categorizes rebellion as being an equivalent to witchcraft
and idolatry. Therefore, when one rejects the truth and knowledge of God in his
or her life, they are guilty of outright diabolical defiance of a righteous and
Holy God. Therefore, they must be treated as one who is guilty of witchcraft
and idolatry. Thus, if a person insists on rebellion against God in the area of
perverting Godʼs plan for human sexuality, that person will suffer the judgment of God like one
who worships an idol. Of course the truth is, that one who rebels against Godʼs plan
for sacred behavior in the body has turned the body into an idol and instead of
worshipping the Creator of the body, he or she now worships the creation instead of the
Creator. This is a very serious matter before God!
I would
like to add something right here that I have noticed and experienced in my many
years of ministry trying to help homosexuals and lesbians. Not all, but almost
all of these who are participating in a perverted lifestyle have a rebellious
and non-teachable spirit. It is my fear that once a person reaches this point
in his or her life, they have committed the unpardonable sin and God has turned
them over to a reprobate mind. Thus, there is no hope for them once they have
sinned away their day of grace because of their obstinate rebellion.
Now, letʼs take
a little more in-depth look at this rebellion and discover that rebellious
people are never gay or happy. As a matter of fact, they are quite the opposite. They
are usually on edge and they spend most of their lives on the defensive or even
trying to cram their perverted lifestyle down the throats of heterosexual
people. Thus, we see all over the world today, bitter and harsh people who are
waiting for someone to offend them simply because of their gay lifestyle of
rebellion.
A. This
rebellious insolence includes living a life of praiselessness. vs. 21a
“For
although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him”.
In the
first part of verse 21, we discover that when people reject the truth of the
Gospel message, they end up living a life that never glorifies God in any
capacity. And, if a person lives a life of thanklessness and praiselessness,
that person will never be happy or gay. And truthfully, there can never be
praise from a heart that is filled with wickedness and out right rebellion.
Therefore, a praiseless heart will not be a happy heart! How can a person
praise God when they are rejected and defying the God they say they want to
praise?
I think
this would be a good time for me to say that in this sick age in which we live,
we are now seeing homosexual churches all over America and in many other parts
of the world. But friend, I can assure you that although God loves these
unlovely people, they will never experience His presence in their lives or in
their churches until they repent and turn from their sins. Therefore, a
homosexual church is an evil church and should be considered as such, but not
to be hated by others any more than we would hate a group of adulterers or
adulteresses who got together and started their own church without stopping
their evil lifestyles. Yes, we should feel sorry for these corrupt people, but
we should not hate them. But, we should pray for them just in case some of them
have not gone too far and sinned away their day of grace.
B. This
rebellious insolence includes an attitude of pride. vs. 21b-22
“…but they
became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Claiming to be wise, they became fools”.
We now come
to the major issue in this matter of homosexuality. When a person rebels
against a righteous and Holy God and has no room for praise in his or her heart
or life, then his or her human pride begins to swell and he or she becomes his
or her own god in their own eyes. Thus, we discover the root of the entire
matter. When a person rejects the Divine plan of God for his or her life, then
he or she becomes a god unto themselves and they no longer want anyone telling
them what is right and wrong. So, the proud bitterness grows and grows until
they make absolute fools out of themselves. This is truly what we are seeing
all across America today. Scores and scores of TV personalities, politicians,
Hollywood actors and actresses, and many others are making absolute fools out
of themselves by flaunting their homosexual lifestyles. But friends, they will
ultimately pay a terrible price for their sins, either in this present world
with AIDS or some other related disease, or in eternity when they stand before
the Lord Jesus. Please donʼt be duped into believing that you will be the
exception and miss the judgment of God. I assure you that no one has ever
missed being held accountable by God, and no one ever will. If your pride is
causing you to arrogantly
flaunt your perverted lifestyle, why donʼt you
humble yourself and repent while there is still time. To fail to do so is to
seal your doom forever!
Proverbs
16:18, says, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a
fall”.
C. This
rebellious insolence includes an addiction to paganism. v. 23
“and
exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and
birds and animals and creeping things”.
Verse 23 is
a profound verse in this chapter. What Paul is saying is that if a person
rejects the truth of God which has been given to him, and he persists because
of his pride of defiantly and blatantly rebelling against God, that he will
continue down a pathway of sure paganism which results in living like animals.
Therefore, a person who insists on living a lifestyle of obstinate rebellion
against God will ultimately end up doing the most horrible and damnable actions
just like animals because when one rejects the truth of God Who will hold him
accountable, then he does that which he rationalizes is right in his own eyes.
And, he capitulates to a lifestyle that is as immoral as the animals in the
fields.
I would
like to stop here and say that I have studied homosexual lifestyles for many
years as I have tried to preach the truth about this subject, and I can tell
you that some of the things I have read about that occur between lesbians and
homosexuals are not worthy of repeating in this article. Therefore, I refuse to
give any publicity to the debauched behavior of those who call themselves
humans, but live and act worse than animals. The sad thing is that once a
person starts down the road of rejecting Godʼs
Divine plan for sexuality, there is no stopping him or her until they hit rock
bottom. And then, it is usually too late for redeeming them because they no longer see their actions as
sin, or their bodies are so riddled with disease that they canʼt
recover.
Let me stop
right here and plead with those of you who still know that what you are doing
is a sin against God, to stop the direction you are going, repent of your sins
and turn to Jesus Who will lovingly forgive you and give you a new life before
it is too late. The Lord Jesus is the only hope that you have! If you reject
Him and his help, there will be no hope and no help!
III.
HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT GAY BECAUSE IT DEGENERATES INTO RIOTOUS INDULGENCE. (Riotous
means unrestrained) vs. 24-27
“Therefore
God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring
of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God
for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is
blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable
passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are
contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women
and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts
with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error”.
I have been
studying the Bible for over 25 years. And during my years of intense study of
Godʼs Word, I have never seen anywhere in this blessed book where people who
start on a downward path away from God ever change on their own or by their own
power. As a matter of
fact, the longer a person progresses down the pathway running from God in
rebellion, the more corrupt and debauched that person becomes. As we are told
in Ephesians 2:1, the person who is unsaved is “dead in the trespasses and
sins:” In other words, the person who is unsaved is spiritually dead. And, we
all know that there are no degrees of death, but there are degrees of decay the
longer a person is dead. This is very true in the physical sense, and it is
also true in the spiritual sense. This is why it is so important for people to
get saved and put their faith in the Lord Jesus while they are young before
they live so long while being spiritually dead. The longer they are alive, but
yet are spiritually dead, the more debauched and corrupt they become. This is
what we find in verses 24-27. There is a process of degeneration the longer one
is away from God. And, in this process of degeneration, the individual becomes
more and more indulgent in sin, and the sin this person commits become more and
more grose the longer the person lives, unless this person repents and turns
back to God. Letʼs take a look at this degenerating lifestyle
and see what God is trying to show us today. Please, please, pay attention
because the truth found in these four verses could indeed save your life and eternal destiny.
A. This
riotous indulgence includes dirty lusts. v. 24a
“Therefore
God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity”.
In the
first part of this verse we find a very sad phrase, “Therefore God gave them
up...” This phrase means that Godʼs patience wore
out with these sinful and indulgent people, and He took His hand off of them so
that they could continue their evil and wicked ways to the extent that they chose. Thus,
through the terrible lusts of their hearts they continued to pursue
unrestrained and unrestricted living until their as no limit to what they would
do. The word lust means that they constantly had an intense longing or craving
for unbridled relationships to try to satisfy their endless and growing
desires. And, because of these dirty and unrestrained lusts, they would stop at
nothing to try to satisfy their desires, and they would not place on their
desires and bodies any parameters to which they would indulge themselves.
B. This
riotous indulgence includes dishonored bodies. v. 24b
“to the
dishonoring of their bodies among themselves”.
If there
are no restraints upon a personʼs behavior, he or she will go to any length and do anything to
attempt to satisfy their unsatisfied hearts; even to the point of desecrating
their own bodies. Of course, this in itself is an act of idolatry and rebellion
because when one goes this low, he or she is now worshipping the creature
rather than the Creator Who made these bodies to be used for Him. So
truthfully, to dishonor oneʼs body in acts of sexual perversion is a
blatant slap in the face of the Holy God Who made these bodies for Himself. If
you are engaged in a homosexual or lesbian lifestyle, let me plead with you to not go any further
because you may soon go beyond redemption. Please, please, turn back now!
C. This
riotous indulgence includes distorted worship. v. 25
“because
they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the
creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever”.
Distorted
worship! This sounds rather twisted doesnʼt it? I
believe it does! When one is resolute and determined to do anything he or she
chooses to do with their
bodies regardless of what our Holy God thinks and states in His Word, then this
person had decided to become his or her own god and totally disregard
worshipping the true and living God. Worshipping the body through sinful and
immoral acts is just as bad, maybe even worse, than bowing down before a statue
or other idol made of clay and giving this idol praise and worship. I can
assure all of us that God did not make us to worship our own bodies, or the
bodies of others. When a person reaches this point in his or her life, they
have become pagans as we stated earlier in this article. My friend, are you
giving worship to the one and true God, or are you worshipping the false god of
lust and twisted perversion? Remember God said in the Ten Commandments, “Thou
shalt have no other gods before me.” Therefore, to involve oneself in these
horrible lifestyles of homosexuality and lesbianism is to invite the total
reprobation and judgment of God. God doesnʼt take
the worship of idols lightly.
D. This
riotous indulgence includes degraded affections. vs. 26-27
In these
two verses we find some of the saddest words in all of the Bible:
“For this
reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged
natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise
gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one
another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the
due penalty for their error”.
In other
words, God took His protective hand off of these degenerating people and they
were given over to unnatural desires and lusts. The men burned in lust for
other men and the women burned in lust for other women. And, once people reach
this stage in their degeneration, they now begin to believe that what they are
doing is natural and eventually they lose their cognizance that what they are
doing is sin at all. When they go this far, then they are probably beyond
return. If a person doesnʼt see his or her sin as sin, then he or she
doesnʼt see
the point of repentance, and if there is no repentance, there can be no
forgiveness. And thus, this person will be lost forever! My dear friends, once
more let me plead with you to return to God and repent before you reach the
state of no repentance.
When that happens, your day of grace will be over, and you will be eternally
lost! And, I sincerely assure you that you will not be “gay” or happy in hell!
Donʼt laugh at this, and please donʼt spurn Godʼs
wonderful love and mercy if you still know that your lifestyle of homosexuality is sin. For
if you still know that your lifestyle is sin, there is still hope for you!
IV.
HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT GAY BECAUSE IT DEMONSTRATES A REVOLTING IMPENITENCE. vs.
28-32
“And since
they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to
do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of
unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder,
strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God,
insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God's righteous
decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do
them but give approval to those who practice them”.
In these
last five verses of our text, we are going to see the ultimate end of a person
who totally rejects the grace of God and insists on being his or her own god.
Truthfully, what happens when a person reaches this point is that the indulgent
rebellious person goes into a state of revolution and out right defiance of
God; not only in attitude, but also in actions as well. What a tragedy it is
for a person to become so obsessed with debauchery and corruption that this
person ends up in a belligerent blatant revulsion of everything Holy God is,
and everything this Holy God requires. This is why that so many homosexuals and
lesbians, and yes, even some who are caught in the snares of any sexual sin,
become so defiant, obnoxious, disrespectful, and corrupt through and through.
And regardless of how they try to defend themselves by accusing others of
homophobia and being hate-mongers, the real problem is down in the heart.
Unhappy hearts produce unhappy attitudes and actions, and the end result is
usually catastrophic bitterness and condescending hatred for those who will not
place their stamp of approval on the homosexual or lesbian lifestyle. Now, letʼs take
a look at the ultimate attitudes and actions of the one who revolts against God, His Word, His personal plan,
His righteousness, and His desire for the welfare of mankind.
A. This
revolting impenitence includes a seared conscience. v. 28
“And since
they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to
do what ought not to be done”. In this verse we discover the tragic thing that
happens to a defiant person who rebels against God in the area of moral sexual
behavior.
“Friend, I
hope you are paying attention to this very serious verse. Paul the Apostle is
telling the Roman believers that if a person goes too far in his or her sexual
rebellion, God just simply tells them good bye and their day of grace is over.
This verse tells us that God turns this person over to a reprobate mind. The
word reprobate here means “a mind that is void of making right judgments.” Do
you see this? In other words, the verse is telling us that if God turns a
person over to a reprobate mind, that personʼs
conscience becomes calloused and seared, and the person is then incapable of
making the right choices about the seriousness of sin, repentance, and
forgiveness. Therefore, there is no hope for this defiant rebellious
individual. What a tragic
loss this is for the person who has been extended the loving grace of God, but
due to the personʼs obstinate will of rejections, he or she can
no longer discern right from wrong, and thus, all hope is gone.
B. This
revolting impenitence includes a sinful conduct. vs. 29-31
“They were
filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are
full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil,
disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless”.
In these
next three verses, we discover an itemized list of the wicked performance of
those who reject the grace and forgiveness of God and allow God to turn them
over to a reprobate mind. With no conscience of their sin, then anything they
desire to do becomes okay to them. Thus, their lives begin to spiral out of
control downward away from God and righteousness. And the longer they live in
this lifestyle away from God, the worse their sin and behavior becomes. This is
why that so many people who start out as meek little effeminate men and women
end up becoming sadistic and masochistic in their ultimate behavior. And having
worked with numbers of homosexuals and lesbians through the years of my
ministry, both in prison and out of prison, this sadistic and masochistic
behavior becomes worse and worse because what ungodly behavior used to bring
satisfaction and excitement to the perverted individual will no longer satisfy,
and thus this miserable unsatisfied individual then proceeds to get involved in
murder or other deadly behavior, or the person becomes a promoter of his or her
lifestyle and tries to cram the acceptance of this behavior down the throats of
the straight population around them. A ruthless attitude with no recognition of
ultimate accountability will always result in ruthless and diabolical behavior.
Thus, our prisons are full of people guilty of sexual sins and crimes of evil
passion. They really never intended to become serial rapists or murderers, but
one sin of defiance led to another sin of defiance, and the monster within the
individual just kept growing until it could not be stopped. Of course, this is
the ultimate end of all who believe they will be the exception to the rule, and
that God will never hold them accountable. What fools these people are!
Folks, I am
not too smart, but I donʼt see anywhere in these verses where this
person ends up being “gay” or “happy”. In fact, quite the opposite is
true! We must stop and understand that if we ask God to
leave us alone and let us do our own thing, He ultimately will and we become
the losers forever; starting with so much loss in this world, and ending up
separated from God and His love in the world to come. Without a cognizance of
sin, there is no recognition of the need to repent, and without repentance,
there is no forgiveness, and without forgiveness one is eternally lost. What a
tragedy that so many start out with a “knowledge of God, but then totally
reject Him and end up with no knowledge of God”. Reprobation is the final drop
of the sword! There is no hope and redemption beyond the point of reprobation!
So, my friends, please wake up and stop your decline before you sin away your
day of grace! Tomorrow will surely be too late!
C. This
revolting impenitence includes a serious contemptuousness. v. 32
“Though
they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to
die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them”.
How far
does the arrogance and defiance go when a person who has been turned over to a
reprobate mind and left to his or her own self-destruction? In this last verse
in our study, we learn that the arrogance and defiance of this reprobate person
becomes so bad that the individual blatantly and recklessly disregards the
inevitable judgment of God which is come for this perverted individual. In
other words, this personʼs conscience has become so seared that he or
she doesnʼt even fear the punishment that is ahead for them. And believe it or not,
this person not only doesnʼt fear his or her own forthcoming judgment,
but he or she takes pleasure in the wicked lifestyles of others who have become
reprobate as well. As someone has well said, “we chose our friends by compatible sins”. And, maybe I
ought to say that a person who has openly rebelled against God until he or she
no longer has a conscience about sin, obviously gets some pleasure out of the
others who are committing like sin. Therefore, this person with a reprobate
mind no longer recognizes his or her own sin, nor even the sins in the lives of
others. And, without a doubt, this reprobate loses all fear of a righteous and
a holy God. Thus, there is no hope for this person, and a society that
entertains or promotes this kind of debauched behavior will soon receive the
judgment of God as did Sodom and Gomorrah in the Book of Genesis.
Let me once
more make an appeal to those of you that are in bondage to sexual sin of any
kind, including homosexuality and lesbianism. As long as you realize that what
you are doing is sin, there is hope for you. Therefore, I plead with you to
confess your sin in serious repentance and stop your rebellion and revolt
against the truth of Godʼs Word. Your only hope is for you to turn to Jesus now before God has turned
you over to a reprobate mind and then all of your hope will be gone. But, you
must remember that true repentance brings about a change in lifestyle. In other
words, repent and then go and sin no more. I assure you that you may indeed get
temporary pleasure out of your sinful lifestyle, but there will never be
lasting happiness and joy. Why? Because there is nothing “gay” about perversion
and a twisted sexual lifestyle. Please, please repent today while there is
still time.
Conclusion
We now come
to the end of this short study on homosexuality! This study has not been a long
in-depth study, but it has been a thorough study of one of the greatest
passages of scripture in the Bible concerning the end result of a lifestyle of
perversion and outright defiance against a Holy and a righteous God. My purpose
in writing this material has been because of the love of Jesus that I have in
my heart for all people, including those who are caught in the web of sinful
sexual bondage. Just like the fact that I want all sinners to come to Christ
and be saved, I also desire that all homosexuals, lesbians, and other sexually
perverted people come to Jesus and experience His marvelous grace and

into your heart, forgive all of your sin, and transform you into a new creature
in Christ. Please pray this prayer while there is still time!
Dear Lord
Jesus, Today I confess that I indeed am a sinner, and I know that you hate my
sin. Please forgive me of my sin because today I repent of my sin, and from
this day forward I will live for you. I give you my entire life, including the
physical desires which have kept me in bondage. Now Jesus, please save my soul,
forgive my sin, and deliver me from the bondage of sin. I believe you died on
the cross for me and arose from the dead. Today I trust you as my Lord and
Savior forever! Thank you Jesus for Saving me today. In the name of Jesus I
pray! Amen!
